Dorqa vs SparkToro

SparkToro infers from a clickstream panel of identified people. Dorqa queries live search surfaces for the market you choose and prints which of its signals returned data. Different instruments, different questions. If audience research is the product you are buying rather than one input among six, buy SparkToro.

Choose Dorqa if

Audience research is one input into a wider workflow rather than the product you are buying.

Choose SparkToro if

Audience research is the job itself, and you need podcasts, press and subreddits.

Be clear about this first

SparkToro's audience data is deeper than ours

Thirteen data types, an audience you can build from a plain sentence, and a separate pay-as-you-go API. If audience research is the centre of your work, buy SparkToro. Dorqa reaches some of these and not others; the table below says which.

•Demographics, social accounts, social networks
•Websites, press and publications, podcasts
•YouTube channels, subreddits, apps and AI tools
•Search keywords, bio keywords, AI prompts

Where Dorqa is the better choice

Same standard as the section below. These are claims about what Dorqa does that this tool does not, not claims about being better overall.

Per-capita over-indexing, not raw reach

A region with a concentration of 100 at 1.3x over-index is a different finding from the same concentration at 1.0x. Sorting by audience size mostly reproduces a population ranking; the multiplier is what makes it actionable.

Audience sits next to the work it informs

The same project holds the site audit, the keyword data and the AI visibility tracking. Audience findings land in the report the client already receives.

It prints which signals came back empty

A per-report confidence score itemises all eight signal groups and marks each as behavioural, mixed or content. When one returns nothing it says so rather than quietly shrinking the report — on the run shown, trend signal read no data and the score still printed. You can see what the answer rests on.

One subscription across six layers

$79 covers audience plus five other layers. $50 covers audience.

Be clear about this

Where SparkToro is the better tool

If any of the following is central to your work, buy theirs. We would rather say so now than take a subscription and have you find out.

The audience dataset itself

Thirteen data types built over years, and the ability to define an audience from a plain sentence rather than a keyword. Dorqa reaches several of the same surfaces, one query at a time, for the market you pick.

Press, and the breadth behind each data type

Dorqa has no press or publications data at all. On the surfaces it does cover it goes one audience and one market at a time, against a panel built over years. If PR target lists or sponsorship planning are central to your work, buy SparkToro.

An API, and MCP from the entry plan

A separate pay-as-you-go API with no subscription, plus MCP access from $50. Dorqa has neither yet.

Multi-user from Business

10 users at $150, 100 at $300, with SSO and SCIM at the top. Dorqa is a single-operator product today.

Questions

Straight answers

Not for audience research. They have thirteen data types and years of data behind them. Dorqa's audience layer covers demographics, communities, language, trusted sources and a follow graph on two platforms — real overlap, far less depth. Dorqa replaces the situation where audience research is one of five subscriptions.

It reports per-capita over-indexing rather than raw audience size. A region with 100 concentration and 1.3x over-index is a different finding from one with the same concentration at 1.0x, and most tools show you only the first number.

Yes. SparkToro's page defaults to annual billing and shows $38 for Personal. The yearly total is $450 with a stated saving of $150, so the monthly price is ($450 + $150) / 12 = $50. Checked 8 August 2026.

Audience depth, press and publications, the breadth behind every data type, the API, MCP access, and multi-user plans. If any of those is central to your work, buy SparkToro.
